Object 1: Plush Mickey Mouse
This Mickey Mouse Plush Toy was a gift from my best friend for my birthday, symbolizing the "Annoying Mickey Mouse" voice I sometimes use to pester her. I gave her one of an elephant, one of her favorite animals, and since she keeps it in her car on her dashboard, I thought I would do the same. In order to best capture the playfulness of the object, I decided to place the object in its "natural habitat" if it were to be real, and chose the location to be the grounds of one of my favorite spaces, the field at Wines. The best light for these photos was found around 7:00 P.M. as the sun was setting on a bright, unclouded day. Focus was ensured by getting close to the object, so as to capture not only it but a little bit of grass around it too. I thought this added to the overall playfulness, and natural aspect. I did struggle with getting the angles right initially for this object. Since it was small and light, wind would blow it slightly off angle in a different direction, and it loved to be bounced around by the resistance of the grass. Therefore photos had to be taken quickly, but with enough care so as not to blur the image or be careless with the angle of the camera. I made adjustments to the color of the mouse, as well as the grass around it to really make the image pop. In addition to brightening the image, the grass was given a greener, bolder tint, and the colors of the mouse, especially the black around its head and ears, were darkened along the red on the back highlighted in both. This also helped with adding contrast in the photo between the colors on the mouse itself, and between those colors and the environment.
