The photo of the person above is one of my closest friends. As a senior in high school, she is under immense amounts of stress, adding to the typical "stressed high schooler" stereotype. With these photos, I wanted to illuminate a different side of her life, revealing the cool and calm manner that should be our youth, and prove that it still exists amongst the stress. This was accomplished by drawing focus to her through emphasis, the rule of thirds, and lighting. All of these came together to create a cleaner, more refreshing photo, than what you may think when you think of your average high schooler.
Calm Clarity
The person pictured above is another close friend. I wanted to capture the same liberty, but in different settings. In order to balance these photos, extra attention was made to the lighting, along with the balance of the photo. Since the backgrounds were so vibrant, it was important to make sure to have total focus on her, along with a clear, non-distorting background. The rule of thirds was implemented to ensure that every element in the photo ultimately lead to her face, and that it was centered properly in the frame.
